About blog&books | A Londoner In Berlin

I oringinally started blog&books.com as a way for me to make sense of the world and to keep a record of the books I was reading. Over the last few years it has evolved to include paintings and food - my other two passions!

A little bit about me: I'm a Londoner who moved to Berlin in 2011, fulfilling a lifelong dream of living in Germany after reading The Berlin Novels by Christopher Isherwood at school. I was obsessed with Berlin and determined to live in the city one day. I quit my job in a restaurant and went travelling. I planned to end my trip in Berlin, knowing that if things didn't work out, I could go back to London and pick up my old life. Things worked out much better than I expected - 11 years later, I'm still here!

I studied English Literature & Art at Brunel University, graduating with a terrible second class degree in 2000. I spent the intervening years working in restaurants, bars and cafés until I was offered a job at a small software company in Berlin, where I could finally put my writing skills to good use.

I've always had a love of words and art, and recently I've picked up my paintbrushes and started painting again. By combining my two favourite things, I create small, original paintings, which often contain a word, a quote, a poem or a lyric from one of my favourite authors or thinkers.

Thanks for visiting blog&books

Leave me a message you'd like me to write about something, if you'd like an original tiny painting, or if you''d like to recommend a good book!
